ToOR Round 1: Tom & Grog vs Laur & Coolpikaaa (Forest)

Tranquil air of the foliage graced the visitors to its arena. Patches of shrubs and bushes dotted between the sturdy domain of trunks. Amble space for both running without crashing into a tree (if one were to pay attention), and yet plenty of cover to conceal oneself with relative effectiveness.

“Contenders, remember the rules and steady yourselves. The round starts in thirty, twenty nine, twenty eight...”

[Laur]

"Most intriguing" The once reluctant mutant commented upon observing their sudden surroundings, her particular ability of sensing the area within which she centrally occupied already attempting to feed her information. Teleportation as such was startlingly jarring to one such as herself. "This shall be a most vigorous test of ones abilities, do you not think?" She directed the question towards her partner for the Trials.

Tom was jarred by the sudden teleportation yet again. When he looked around, he smiled. Forest. He knew how to handle a forest. He quickly walked over to a nearby straight sapling, about 4-6 cm in diameter and about 1.8 m high, and using his artificial foot, kicked out at it's base, snapping it into a staff. He then started tearing off limbs to make it a more suitable staff. It would be crude, but the rules only said you couldn't bring weapons in - nothing about fashioning them out of the environment.

Grog rushed off as soon as they teleported. This was part of the pairs plan - Grog had one mission to start with. Find the biggest sturdiest rock and bring it back to where Tom was. Tom only hoped the big guy was up to it.

[Coolpikaaa]

"Yesssss!" The electric mouse was exuberant, leaping right up to Laur's shoulder. "I got the best one! CP and Laur! Back together again!"

To say he was overjoyed to see the reserved woman again was an understatement. It was true. They had, at one point, technically been enemies. But since then, he had hoped, they formed a bit(?) of friendship(?). Perhaps?

[Game Master]

"... One... BEGIN!"

With a thunderous clap, the Game Master announced the start of their round.

It was at this time that Grog came into the clearing where Laur and CP was. Of course he didn't notice the lady from the fair...he only noticed the tiny furry animal on her head that was CP.

"FLUUUUUUFFFFFFYYYYY" The massive barbarian yelled - with great enthusiasm - and started running towards Laur, intent on hugging CP

Tom had just finished clearing off the last of the branches when he heard the Barbarian's scream of his discovery. Of course he'd get off track the first squirrel he found. He'd likely have alerted however their opponent was too. "Well, No time like the present" Tom said, taking his new staff in hand and heading towards Grog to get him out of whatever trouble was about to find him

[Laur]

"I see you are as energetic as ever" the once reluctant mutant provided the observation proceeding the miniscule beings leap upon her sturdy shoulder. "We will soon see if 'the best one' proves an adequate description of myself, Coolpikaaa. Prepare yourself"

The mutants piercing bright blue eyes followed the energetic form relayed within her through her senses. She recognised the feeling, belonging to a man once described as a 'big toddler'. Laur was fully prepared to dodge out of the barrelling trainwreck of a mans path preceding him charging towards the duo-proceeding to enact this movemebt with a grace that proved unpredictable even towards herself. Yet whilst she assessed the likely hopeless situation thrust upon them, she found herself pondering. "I am having trouble acquiring the location of our second opponent. They are either human or lacking powers"

Grog was not anticipating Laur moving the 'chu so fluidly, and such landed face first after his dive. He however was quick to jump back up - that strange woman wasn't going to stop him from hugging the fuzzy creature.

Tom had been careful in the leaf fall and and made it into observation distance - but he was still keeping back. He saw that Grog had in fact found their opponents - which was the reason for his scream. Laur and CP. CP would be easy enough to deal with *if* Tom could avoid the shock - though Grog seemed intent on dealing with the fuzzy creature. Laur - that would take talent. Thankfully since their meeting at the fair, Tom had read up on her and know that she couldn't affect him - and likely couldn't sense him. What Tom would give right now for a ranged weapon. But the crude staff he held would have to do. For now he'd wait and see what happened with Grog and his attempt to catch CP

[Coolpikaaa]

"I don't see him either! Tom's tricky. Check the tree cover!" CP yelled to his partner. Grog. Grog was his problem. A big, heavy muscled brute. He could deal.

"Hey Groggy! Can I call you groggy, big guy?" Rather than try to avoid the brute, the electric mouse ran into him. Grog had muscle, sure. But CP... CP had speed. "You're all muscle eh? Did you stretch? Don't wanna cramp right?"

CP ran right up his arm, sparking as he went. The electricity would hit all those big muscles for sure... and hopefully paralyze them with thunder wave as he went. Unless interrupted, he was going to literally run all over him.

[Laur]

Upon reception of information that it would be beneficial to have an eye upon the tree cover, Laurs piercing gaze proceeded to do just that. Laur proceeded to narrow her eyes and swiftly spun upon her heel and bolted back the way they came. She was most certainly not of a mind not to use the environment around them, thus she tore off a length of vine and then hefted as many stones as she was aware she was able to carry comfortably, preceding placing the majority in her pockets Her adversary possessed a robotic leg, she possessed naught that would grant an advantage over him.

Laur pivoted once more with the makeshift sling drawn ahead, ready to fire upon an opponent that possessed the ability to sneak upon her.

The pikachu's bet paid off, as in fact Grog was too slow to get the small fuzzy. The electrical surge pulsed through his body like a tazer, and the big man went down - falling forward. Unfortunately for CP, he happened to be on the brute's chest when he fell, potentially pinning the rodent.


Meanwhile, Tom smiled. He had no clue what CP was thinking about the tree cover, but Tom was in fact hiding, staff ready, behind a nearby log. He had covered his face with mud to add an extra bit of camoflauge, and between that and the fatigues he wore into the tournament today, he would be very difficult to spot from a distance to all but the sharpest of eyes.

[Laur]

Laur may be many things, but a fool did not count among those many things. Observing the immediate area was secured, the once reluctant mutant proceeded to climb within the branches of a tree, concealing herself and keeping an area around her under her particularly watchful eyes. She refused to stumble around blindly searching for an opponent whose most obvious tactic was to take advantage of her doing just that. Laur just so happened to be wearing black-not great camouflage, but not easy to spot, either.

[Coolpikaaa]

"Ah! Grog! Gettoff!" CP yelled to the downed brute, pinned under his meaty shoulder. He was surprised at how quickly he had fallen. Maybe that old adage was based on some sliver of truth.

Unfortunately it seemed like the large barbarian was quite paralyzed. Good for the contest, not so great for the trapped mouse. He started squirming, hoping to worm his way free.

::The only response CP got from the downed Barbarian was a mighty snore. With much work, CP finally managed to free himself::
