Twas the Night before Feastday

#1

'Twas the night before Feastday, and all throughout Pax,
Not a creatures was stirring, not even the rats.
The Glasses of Coloda were in the sink,
Their contents the residents did readily drink.
The Knights were all already in bed,
Hoping that C would not mess with their heads.
And C was in her realm, always plotting her plots,
And wondering when the next mango shall drop.
Suddenly Thorn was awoken to a great clatter,
And ran to the Comms room, to see what was the matter.
She flipped some toggles, and toggled some trips
So that the system came up with a beep and a blip.
The cameras did scan, both near and afar,
It even scanned the friendly closed bar.
When what to her wondering eyes did appear,
But a miniature sleigh pulled by eight creatures so rare.
The sword at his side and the glow of his eye,
Meant that it must be that rascal, Au' Marui.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Badger! now Gopher, now Mole and Moose!
On, Giraffe! on, Kiwi! on, kumquat and Orange Juice!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the housetop the coursers they flew
With the sleigh full of treats, and Crazy god too—
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little foot.
As she switch the camera feed, and was turning it around,
Down the stairs Au'Marui came with a bound.
He was dressed all a cloak, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with battles and Brew;
A bundle of Food he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they Glowed! his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the cloak on his back was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pickle he held tight in his teeth,
And the smell filled the room with something sweet;
He pulled out a feast to give people a little round belly
That shook when they laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was set up with such agility, a right jolly old elf,
And she laughed when she saw him, in spite of herself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave her to know she had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but kept straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings with meats seasoned with jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the stairs he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Feast to all, and to all a good night!”
